Narrative Writing

The Orphans - by H. Gavin

It was a stormy rainy night.  Two children were after escaping from a local orphanage.  They were very frightened.  They were coming into a dark, dirty alley in down town New York.  Suddenly they saw two men were coming towards them.  They saw a dumster and jumped in before the men arrived.  They heard the men talking.  They were saying where are "Those dirty rotten chidren"  "When I get my hands on them I will kill them".  There was so much fear in the children's eyes.  They were thinking where could they sleep for the night?  Next they found a steel bar then they hit the men and knocked them out cold and stole all their money.  Then they ran for there lives.  Then a family found them and the family asked what happened and the children told them there story.  The lovely family felt sorry for them.  The family decided to take them in and keep them safe for the rest of their life.  The children were so happy they finally had a family after ten years.  They never had to go back to the dirty rotten orphanage.

Two Little Dogs - by S. Carter

Once upon a time there lived two little dogs and a man.  The two little dogs kept going into the mans field.  The man was a farmer.  He had 35 sheep 5 bulls and 6 cows.  But one day the dog's went into the field again and the man caught them.  So the farmer took the two dogs home.  The farmer said that they could have one more chance and gave the dogs back to the owner.  So the two little dog's owner and her dad built a cage for the two little dogs.  They put the two little dogs in the cage.  But the two little dogs started to dig under the cage.  The two little dogs got out of the cage.  When the owner went out fo feed the two little dogs they were not there.  The two little dogs had gone into the farmers field this time the farmer had a gun.  The owner saw the two little dogs in the field.  The owner ran into the field and grabbed the two little dogs.  Now they keep them in the house and the farmer has moved away.

Maths Week

Maths week took place from October 15th - October 19th.  As part of maths week at school we were promoting the use of board games.  Board games have been a cultural phenomenon since the beginnings of civilisation.  Mathematical board games provide an opportunity, through play, for the acquisition and practice of basic maths skills.  The children were playing cards, scrabble, dominoes, snakes and ladders, draughts, ludo, chess, connect 4, guess who?, monopoly and many other games.

Confirmation

The 6th class pupils made their confirmation on the 2.5.2012. The children confirmed were Ciarán, Michael, Dean, Brian, Joe, Gabrielle and Tara. The ceremony was held in Kilbegnet church. Thank you to Fr. Phelim Jordan and Bishop Christopher Jones for helping to make our day a special one.

This year we had a book fair. It was alot of fun. There were a lot of top of the range books such as 'War horse'. There was also a display of posters, erazers and pencils
which a lot of pupils bought. Our school recieved €312 worth of books to read and enjoy. Thank You Mrs. Kelly for all your hard work.
