The months of winter are November, December and January. In winter it will gets very cold. There will be frost and snow. You would have to dress up very warm away from the cold or you might get a cold. On the 25th December Santa comes and bring you presents. It is called Christmas. There are four seasons, they are Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. There are three months in winter. Winter is my favourite time of year. But I still haven't found out what I want for Christmas. Most of the trees are bare except for evergreens. Many creatures are asleep such as the squirrel, the hedgehog, the lady bird. In winter the flowers die and the crops. It is not good for plants, flowers or any crops. Ireland is also having a lot of rain this year. by L. ScanlonChris O'Dowd
This article is about Chris O'Dowd. He is an actor in Moone Boy. "Moone Boy" takes place in Boyle. The man doing the interview is Martin Wynne. Chris O'Dowd was a goalkeeper for the Roscommon Minor Team. Chris O'Dowd was Number 1 in the final against Mayo. Roscommon lost in 1997. Welcome Visitors
This article name is "Welcome Visitors Come Calling at Feeding time". The person who wrote this article is called Gerry Daly. This article was in the Sunday Independent on the 11th of November '12. The feeding of the garden birds has become very popular and has been created with helping to maintain wild bird populations. A much bigger range of feeders and feeding materials is available and the casual throwing out of a few crusts now seems very antiquated/old. Foods for wild birds are based on nuts and seeds and in some cases fats. These are intended for seed feeding species which are mostly the birds we want to visit. The seed and nut feeders such as bluetits, finches and siskas are more acrobatic in flight and in taking food from nut feeders. by D. Gately 3rd classOur Trip to the Graveyard
We visited our local graveyard for November. November is the month of the holy souls. We went to Kilbegnet graveyard and each child visited their own relations grave. At the grave there were headstones that said their age and the year they died and their names. by E. Coleman 3rd classOur Trip to our Local Graveyard
Today we visited our local graveyard. November is the month of the Holy Souls. We went to Kilbegnet graveyard and each child visited their own relations grave. At the graves we thought about our family member who have died. We also prayed for them. We then picked a stone in memory of all who have died and are buried there. We read the names on the head stones and where they lived. It tell's us when they died and their age. I felt very sad at the graveyard for my granny who died. But they are safe in heaven. The Story of Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist was a young boy who had no mammy or daddy. He lived in an orphanage that was run by Mr. Bumble who was a very mean man, almost tyrant like. One day the boys were eating gruel cause it was an all boys orphanage. They all dared Oliver to go up and ask for more, when Oliver said "Please Sir can I ave some more" Mr. bumble says "Some more, some more you greedy boy". That night Oliver ran away. He lives in the streets, he gets into bad company with a group of young boys run by Fagan. His trick was he made the boys pick pockets which meant to steal riches. Fagan pretended to be nice and give them a bed and food. He met the Artful Dodger who was nice but was a fugitive because he was very good at dodging the police, later he met a woman called Nancy she was in a relationship with Bill Sykes who was nasty he tried to pick the pocket of someone when another crowd came and did the dirty work instead. When the police came they thought it was Oliver so they brought him in. There was a man who wanted to adopt Oliver from now on Oliver lived happily ever after. Oliver was written by Charles Dickins. The Heritage Centre
Today we went inside the Heritage Centre. A man called Larry brought us there. There are three rooms in it. When you walk into it you are in a room where there are lots of things like a fireplace an information board and some shelves which had artifacts on them. There was a glass cabinet on one of them. The heritage centre was opened on the 27th September 1991 exactly 100 years after Parnell visited. Over the fireplace is carved 1917. There were photos of people in primary school Mrs. Brandon and Olivia were in them. by L. Curley
