SEAI
Kellie from SEAI - Sustainable energy authority of Ireland came to talk to us about different forms of energy and we got to do different experiments









Poetry 
We had a visit from a poet, where we learned about different types of poems and got to write our own as part of the 'The Give a Poem, Get a Poem' initiative. These poems will be sent to different schools and we will receive poems written by other children.

Visit from Medtronic  
Thank you to Medtronic who came to visit the school with Lego sets for the classrooms. They showed us how to use coding on the laptop and ipads  to make the lego robot move.

Readathon
For November we are taking part in Readathon, where we are trying to do lots of reading for the month. We had a zoom call with the author Emma Jane Leeson. She spoke to us about being an author and she read a few of her books to us. The children got to ask her questions

In November we remember
All throughout the month of November we remember the Holy Souls and pray for our loved ones. 


 

Science week 10th - 17th November 2024
Oobleck - Converting solid (flour) to a liquid, using cornflour and water to make slime.
A lemon volcano - A chemical reaction using a lemon, bicarbonate soda, food colouring, dish soap
Diffusion of dye using skittles and warm water. 
STEM challenge - the children had to work in groups to design and create a container using a piece of paper. The aim was to see which container created would hold water for the longest amount of time. 

Peace Proms
The children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes went to Leisureland in Galway for a Peace Proms practice. We had great fun learning the songs and dance moves for the concert in Limerick next March 


English Writing
Wonderful recount writing based on what you did last weekend. 

October 2024
Halloween
3rd and 4th class dressed up in their Halloween costumes. They enjoyed a range of different activities and games and carved pumpkins. Some of the children took part in an interview for Ros FM.

A great day out in Mulhern Park in Fuerty. 3rd to 6th class took part in a GAA blitz organised by Roscommon GAA. 


Maths Week 14th - 18th October 2024
A sample of some of the maths activities 3rd and 4th class took part in this week. 


Art
We learned about the northern lights and discussed the different colours we saw in the  sky on Thursday 11th October. The beautiful lights inspired our art lesson. We used chalk pastels to create these wonderful pictures. 
                                     



Well done to everyone who took part in the Glenamaddy Ploughing Art Competition. Congratulations to the 3rd and 4th class winners. 

A colourful display of art inspired by the artist Picasso. 



Thank you to Pat and Mattie from Ballygar for visiting to showcase different historical artefacts to the children. The children were allowed to handle the items and explore the lives of previous generations. 


 

    
 

We celebrated National Tree Day by planting a Hawthorn tree and daffodils in the school garden. The theme this year was 'Planting Trees for a Greener Future'.  

   

 

September 2024

First match of the year. 4th, 5th and 6th class took part in a tag rugby blitz in Creggs Rugby Club. 3rd class went to support and took part in the different activities and competitions on the day.

November 2023
Creggs N.S was among schools that has been issued the Cineáltas (Kindness) Flag from the Department of Education during the Anti-bullying Week 2023 that took place from November 13th to November 17th. The Cineáltas Flag acknowledges the good work that our school is doing and will do to prevent and address bullying
 and to promote kindness, respect, inclusion, diversity and wellbeing. 











Milliner Majella Lennon visited the school to help the 5th and 6th with their JEP project. She told us all about her life and her business. She showed us her wonderful creations
