Blue Star 2024
VIP Visitor
We were very grateful to welcome Michael Fitzmaurice, our local T.D., to our school last Friday 19th April as our VIP visitor for the Blue Star programme. We put up our EU flag and displayed the children’s beautiful artwork. The children also discussed what questions they might like to ask him. He spoke to the children about what his job is like as a T.D., and how the government works. He emphasised the importance of using your vote and he answered lots of questions from the children. His speech was excellent and informative for students and teachers alike. Thank you to Michael for his continuing support for our school and the local community.
Mona Lisa
The children in Ms. Morgan’s room were very creative creating their very own pictures of the ‘Mona Lisa’.
Henri Matisse
We have started our work for the Blue Star programme this year by looking at the French artist Henri Matisse. Junior and senior infants created pictures inspired by his still life paintings. First, Second, Third and Fourth class created artwork inspired by his cut out collages.
Fifth and sixth class created artwork inspired by his painting ‘The Open Window’.
